How to Host an Easter Egg Toss

Whether you are looking for a game to play at your Easter egg hunt or looking for a way to get your kids moving after indulging in Easter treats, consider organizing an Easter Egg Toss. This fun game is easy to play and one kids and adults can both participate in.

Plan your Easter Egg Toss with these easy steps.

Prep Work

  1. Determine how many eggs you will need.  Participants will compete in pairs, so you will need half the number of eggs as participants.  For example, if 12 people are going to play, you will need 6 eggs.

  2. Boil your eggs. For instructions on how to boil eggs, click here.

  3. For an eggstra festive Easter Egg Toss, consider dying your eggs using any of Dudley's egg dying kits or coloring cups.  Participants will love this added touch! Plus, your little helpers will enjoy dying them!

  1. Divide your participants into teams.  Depending on your group, you may want to assign partners, randomly draw partners, or let participants select their own partner.

  2. Have teammates stand an arm's length away from each other, facing each other, so all participants end up forming two lines.

  3. Give all of the participants in one line a hard-boiled egg, so each team has an egg.

  4. Instruct the participants with the egg to toss the egg to their partner.

  5. Everyone who catches their egg successfully remains in the game.  The partner holding the egg should take one step back to increase the distance between them and their teammate. Anyone who drops their egg is out of the game.

  6. The game continues in this manner until only one team has successfully thrown their egg back and forth without dropping it.

Depending on the age and abilities of your participant's you may choose to modify this game as you see fit.  For example, you may allow a "1 drop" rule before your eliminate a team.

You may also consider awarding a prize to your top competitors to congratulate them on their eggciting win!
